In the year of the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, the staff of the Department of History of Law and Religious Law at the INPr UO dedicated the 19th Legal and Historical Colloquium to exploring the tensions between the sacred and the secular. Since ancient times, establishing a proper relationship between the new religion and the old world, between Christianity and Romanism, and between the Church and the State has been important. The conference participants want to study these issues throughout history, from antiquity to the present day. The speakers’ research framework, which outlines the clash between the human and the divine, the individual and the universal, is informed by Roman law, legal history and religious law.
