The Department of Human Rights and Forensic Sciences is hosting an educational conference.

An educational conference on cybercrime against seniors, organised by the Department of Human Rights and Forensic Sciences of the Institute of Legal Sciences UO, the Warsaw-Praga District Police Station and the Warsaw Capital Security Centre.

On 10 December 2024, dr Krzysztof Mucha, Assistant Professor and Acting Head of the Department of Human Rights and Forensic Sciences at the Institute of Legal Sciences of the University of Opole, led a scientific conference on ‘Selected threats to seniors related to cybercrime’. The conference was held at the invitation of the Warsaw-Praga District Police Headquarters and the Capital Security Centre of the President of the City of Warsaw.

During the conference for seniors from the City of Warsaw, Dr Krzysztof Mucha presented the most common cybercrime techniques and threats, including the perpetration of financial fraud and other scams through the use of social engineering and psychotechnics to manipulate the feelings and emotions of victims.

Further educational activities aimed at senior citizens, in cooperation with other police units, are planned by the Department of Human Rights and Forensic Sciences at the Institute of Legal Sciences at the University of Opole in the near future.
