Research teams formed to organize and conduct scientific research in the discipline of legal sciences

The Research Team of the Center for the Protection of Cultural Heritage / UNESCO Chair on Cultural Property Law brings together lawyers from at home and abroad dealing with the legal protection of cultural property. It is currently the only UNESCO legal chair in Poland and one of several dealing with this issue in the world.

As part of its activities, the team collaborates with analogous chairs at the University of Geneva, the University of Technology in Sydney and Renmin University in Beijing, among others.

The center’s team participates as experts in the development of international, European and national laws on cultural property. As part of the Center’s activities, it publishes the international journal Santander Art & Culture Law Review indexed in the SCOPUS database.

The “Law & Religion” Religious Law Research Team is a unique national research center specializing in State-Church relations in the post-Christian world. The team’s research includes, among other things, restitution of church property, finances of churches and religious associations, civil liability for damages caused by clergy and issues of guarantees of conscience and religion.

The purpose of the activity is to intensify the conduct of scientific research within various branches of law on the status of the individual. Constitutional and international guarantees of human rights, based on their inherent dignity, require in-depth scientific reflection, first of all, on the realization of freedoms and rights, i.e., their real security and the possibility of learning about and exercising them, so that they are not just “theoretical or illusory”, but “practical and effective”. The scientific potential of the Institute of Legal Sciences and the past cooperation of its employees from various departments with researchers and scientific centers at home and abroad allow us to assume that the Center will become an important and significant research center.
